Most of the homes we renovate in Arlington were built in the 1920s and 30s: two-families in East Arlington, Capes and Colonials throughout the center, and roomier houses up in Arlington Heights. These homes have real character, but they were framed before open floor plans, second-floor primary baths, and modern kitchens were the norm. The bulk of our Arlington work is opening a wall between the kitchen and dining room, carving a proper primary bath out of a small second floor, or turning a dry basement into finished living space. We plan around plaster walls, balloon framing, and knob-and-tube where it still lingers, so nothing surprises us mid-project.
A renovation in Arlington is not the same as one on a half-acre lot. Driveways are narrow, parking is tight, and your neighbors sit a few feet away. We plan staging, dumpster placement, and material deliveries before demo so the street stays usable and the town stays happy.
