Most of Holliston's homes fall into a few buckets: 1960s to 1980s Colonials and Capes in the family neighborhoods, older farmhouses and antiques near Highland Street and the town center, and newer construction in the subdivisions built out toward Hopkinton. A lot of these kitchens and baths are on their first or second renovation and were built before open-concept living was the norm. The common Holliston project for us is opening a closed-off kitchen to the family room, rebuilding a dated primary bath, or finishing a dry basement into real living space. We match the work to the age of the house instead of forcing a template onto it.
Holliston sees the full New England freeze-thaw cycle, and it shows up in the work. Basements need real moisture control before anyone frames a wall, exterior trim has to shed water or it rots at the joints, and tile has to sit on properly waterproofed substrate or it fails in a few winters. That is the difference between a renovation that still looks right in year ten and one that needs a warranty call in year three.
